Alice Marie Thomas

Marie Thomas passed away on Thursday February 2, 2023in Allen, Texas.  Marie was born on Thursday April 25, 1935 in Dallas.  Her late parents were Charlie and Emma (Windham) Snell. Marie went to school in Garland but she left school to go to work helping out the family.  She was one of six kids so every extra bit helped.

On November 20, 1954 she married Jackie Thomas in Big Spring (Part of Garland now) Baptist Parsonage.  After marrying Marie and Jackie went to live with the grandparents for a while.  During this time she worked for Luminator and the Plano Independent schools in the cafeteria. After having Karen and Wayne she became a stay at home wife, mom and homemaker. They moved to Lucas in 1959.

Marie had an open heart and anyone and everyone was welcome at her house.  Marie was an excellent cook, but her specialty was candy, cakes, and pies.  Every Christmas her house seemed like a candy shop. She started baking after Thanksgiving to ensure she had baked everybody's favorites.  She took pleasure in seeing everyone enjoying her creations

Surviving Marie is her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Jordan of Blue Ridge; Texas; son and daughter –in-law, Wayne and Jill Thomas of Blossom, Texas; sister Betty Jean Wood of Allen, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses; Crystal and Alex Mooney, Kaydee Thomas, Tripp Thomas, Dakota Thomas and wife Paige and step granddaughter, Paige Schultz; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She is proceeded in death by parents, Charlie and Emma Snell, husband Jackie Thomas, her four brothers, Arthur Snell, Dean Snell, Travis Snell and Charles Snell.

Visitation will be Sunday February 5, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel.  Marie will be laid to rest in the Altoga Cemetery on Monday February 6, 2023 at 3:00 P.M.
