Amanda Faye Foster

Amanda Faye Foster, 92 of Rowlett, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026 in her home.

Amanda was born on June 8, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to the late Charlie and Ruby Martin Spence.

She grew up in Liberty Grove (an area near Rowlett/Rockwall and Wylie, TX). She was raised in the time of very humble beginnings growing up in the country, helping with all of the housework and chores on the farm and picking cotton to help her family. Some were hard times, but most of her best memories came from some of the old front porches, pastures with their animals or old dirt roads, always spending time with family, cousins and friends.

During the time while attending grade school, she recalled having to walk to school with her older brother and sister and some of the days being quite eventful, especially if it had been raining and they had cut through fields to get there quicker. What a muddy mess.

She was baptized and became a member of the Cottonwood Church of Christ as a teenager, and she was among one of the last members left with the longest membership.

She graduated from Wylie High School and then began working in downtown Dallas for an insurance company.

She married Percy Wayne Foster on Friday, October 14, 1955 with their family celebration being at her parent’s home in Liberty Grove. They were blessed with 4 children. They were married 46 years before Percy passed away on August 30, 2002.

After working in Dallas as her early office career, she later began working for Dresser Electronics in Plano, TX, and then went to work for VARO and other entities of the company through the years. This was always very tedious detail type work on circuit boards for airplanes, helicopters, etc. She really enjoyed this line of work! Since most of these jobs were government based type contracts at various times she might be off work for a period of time. She always loved children and began babysitting for a lot of different families in our community. Everyone loved Faye! There are several of those families and children that became like family to us and have remained lifelong friends.

If you knew our Mother, she was a Godly woman, a kind spirited, gentle soul, beautiful inside and out. She was a very humble and kind lady, never asking for much. Knowing life was not about being rich or having the best of everything, but about doing as much as possible to help others in any way that you are able to. Whether it was cooking great meals and dropping off to someone or feeding any visitors and making sure no one left her house hungry, or helping take care of the sick, or doing laundry for the ones not able to anymore. She was always a very caring, loving person and her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire us every day.

She believed the real luxuries in Life was the Love for Jesus, always believing in the power of prayer, your health, meaningful conversations, home cooked meals, a good night’s sleep, rest without guilt, time well spent with family and friends you Love and Who Love you back. When we understand that each day isn’t

one more day, but one less, We start giving more value to the things that truly matter.

She is survived by her children Carla Adams and husband Gary of Rowlett, TX. Keith Foster and wife Julie of Caddo Mills, TX. Michael Foster of Rockwall, TX. One brother Rod Anthony Spence and wife Dottie of Quinlan, TX. 7 Grandchildren: Amanda Manson, Ashley O’Brien, Alyssa Brown Stewart, Kelton Foster, Wade Foster, Jaeden Foster and Ely Foster. 10 Great Grandchildren: Hank Manson, Rhett Manson, Cayden Henderson, Charlie Henderson, Sanford Stewart, Ophelia Stewart, Lucie Stewart, Aiden Foster, Journie Foster and Cannon Foster. Along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins from both sides of the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Percy Wayne Foster and son Tommy Dale Foster. Her parents Charlie and Ruby Spence, her brothers Charles Spence, Wallace Spence, Don Spence and her sister Pearl Moss.

One day I hope my children look at their own children and think “So this is how much my Mother loved me! My children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are a window to my past, a mirror of today, a door to tomorrow and the keeper of my heart for all eternity!

We were all so blessed that God loved all of us so much that he sent us one of his Angels to be our Mother, Granny and Great grandmother. It was a Life well lived! She fought a good fight and finished the race.

God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around her and whispered “Come with me”. With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best!
