Bertha was raised on a farm in Oklahoma with her four siblings, where she learned to raise animals, tend a

garden, and preserve food through canning. Life was simple but full-and then one day, she learned about boys.

A young man visited the farm, tagging along with a buddy from the Air Force Base to deliver a pair of glasses.

That young man was Robert Workins. Within six weeks, Bertha and Robert were married-with her mother

close behind and Benny, their ranch hand, in tow. Granny was going to stop the wedding, but she

underestimated how hard my father's foot could push down on that old pickup truck's gas pedal.

Together, they raised four children and built a life rooted in love, faith, and hard work. In her later years,

Bertha often reflected on her childhood, the deep loss of her husband and son, and the joy she found in caring

for the animals around her apartment. Whether it was squirrels, birds, or even ducks, the creatures always

seemed to find their way to her door-sometimes quite literally. Edward recalls glancing out the window and

seeing a row of ducks waddling to her door, quacking like clockwork, as if they had learned to ring the doorbell.

She was a friend to many, a quiet prayer warrior, and a gentle spirit who will be sorely missed. As she often

said: "Finish the race, and do it with a lot of love-for people and for nature." When you remember Bertha,

think of all the little creatures she loved so well, even up to her final days. That's what made her happiest.

With heavy hearts, but faith in God's promises, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother,

sister, and friend, Bertha Elizabeth Workins, who went home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2025, at the age

of 88, in Carrollton, Texas.

Bertha was born on March 22, 1937, in Weatherford, Oklahoma (Washita County). From an early age, she

lived her life guided by unwavering faith, quiet grace, and a deep love for others. A devoted follower of Jesus

Christ, she was a pillar of her church and community-always ready to lend a hand, offer a prayer, or give her

time, even when there was a herd of cattle to feed and baskets of chicken eggs to collect.

She was a woman of quiet strength and boundless kindness, who found joy in the simple things: reading her

Bible, spending time with family, cooking meals filled with love, and sharing laughter with friends. Her life

was a living testimony to the love of Christ-faithful in prayer, generous in spirit, and steadfast in hope.

Bertha is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Lawrence Workins, and her beloved son, Steven

Lawrence Workins.
