Burkett, Billy Mark Obituary

Burkett, Billy Mark of Dallas, Texas, age 84, passed away on Saturday,  June 13, 2020 from complications of dementia. Bill was born on

January 18, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Baldwin Park High School in California in 1954 after growing up in Tulsa. He served in the United States Army in 1959-61 stationed in Colorado.

Bill was a carpenter and salesman for Stainless Steel Cookware for many years.  His passion was racing homing pigeons. He belonged to Homing Pigeon Clubs, where he won many awards with his birds.  He enjoyed breeding and raising pigeons all his life starting as a child when he got his first bird.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George William and  Essie Kirk Burkett, and his six brothers David, Johnny, Simon, and Jimmy and four sisters Mary, Martha, Ruth, and Naomi.

Survivors: Wife of 53 years Nancy W. Burkett, Sons: Brent, Brock, and Robert, and grandson Jimmy Burkett. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews,

He was a devoted Christian and attended Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.

We would also like to specifically thank the caregivers at Garnet Hill in Wylie, Texas, where he resided the last two and half years.

The family will be holding a small graveside service June 17, 2020 at the Dallas -Fort Worth National Cemetery .
