Billy "Bill" Max James, 90, of Wylie passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 in Wylie.  Bill was born on Wednesday, September 10, 1929 in Josephine, Texas.  Bill's parents are the late Macon Georgia and Ruby Nelcine (Smith) James. Bill grew up in Josephine and graduated from Nevada High School.  After graduation Bill joined the United States Army on March 14, 1951 and served in Korea where attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.  Bill was Honorably Discharged on March 11, 1953.  Shortly after returning from the service Bill married the love of his life, Glenda Sue Becknell on May 14, 1954 in Nevada, Texas. Bill retired from Wylie ISD where he had been a crossing guard.  Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church Wylie and the Masonic Lodge.  Bill had also played some pro baseball.

Bill is survived by his son, Max James of Wylie and sister, Peggy Becknell of Royse City; sister-in-law, Ann Holland of Wylie; brother-in-law Wes Becknell of New Mexico and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Bill will be remembered by generations of children that  had attended the Wylie Schools.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Macon and Ruby James; his wife, Sue James.

Bill's graveside service is Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. A. L. Draper officiating.  Bill will be laid to rest next to Sue in the Nevada Cemetery.
