Nancy Carolyn Blakey was born in Wylie, Tx on a cold winter day on January 9, 1940, to parents Compton Scott Connelly and Mary Irma Lewis Connelly.  She passed away on March 26, 2024 in Sachse, TX, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy battle with dementia.

Carolyn attended school her entire life in Wylie, TX, graduating from Wylie High School in 1958.  She married her high school sweetheart, Bennie Blakey on Valentines Day, February 14, 1959.  They were blessed with two children, Brian Scott and Beth Ann.  After Beth started school, Carolyn began her working career at First State Bank in Wylie, in 1969.  She spent over 30 years in Banking, before retiring from First National Bank in Sachse in 1999.

The family attended Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Wylie where Carolyn taught Sunday School, worked in bus ministry, led the Ladies Auxiliary and shared her love of singing.

Carolyn was a talented artist, cook, seamstress, decorator and SHOPPER!  She loved beautiful things and enjoyed reading and many interests over the years.

Bennie and Carolyn relocated to their lake home in Mineola, TX in 1998 where they attended New Life Church.  She became Principal at New Life Christian Academy, before retiring full-time to the RV Life!  They traveled all over the US, even making a 50-day road trip to Alaska in 2011, with Carolyn's sister, Frances and her late husband Jerry Cryer.

As Carolyn's health began to decline, she and Bennie moved back to the Sachse area in 2019 to be closer to family.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bennie W. Blakey of Sachse, TX, son Brian Scott Blakey and April of Fort Worth, TX, daughter Beth Ann Blakey Johnson and Bobby of Fort Worth, TX, sister Mary Frances Cryer of Mineola, TX, grandchildren: Tyler Johnson and Genna, Bailey Deskin and Joseph, Thomas Blakey and Ethan Blakey, great-grandchildren: Laila Deskin, Levi Deskin and Ruston Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all the staff of Oxford Glen Memory Care and Anchor of Hope Hospice for the loving care and support they've provided over the past 4 years.
