Carrol Lee Caskey, 78, of Mesquite, Texas joined the Heavenly choir on February 20 ^th , 2022.  Carrol passed peacefully at home with her family.

She was born to parents Harry and Faye Richards on May 3 ^rd , 1943 in Lone Grove, Oklahoma.  She grew up in Phillips, Texas, near Borger, Texas.  Her father worked in the Phillips Carbon plant during the oil boom.  Her family of 6 lived in a 2-bedroom home built for the workers.  The homes belonged to the employees but the land was owned by Phillips.  The camp was eventually closed as roads made travel to Borger easier.

Carrol is survived by a brother James Richards, children, Rhonda Caskey of Mesquite, TX and Wayne Caskey of Kettle Falls, Washington. She also considered Susan Murray as one of hers after raising her for a number of years.  She was MeMe to grandchildren Aaron Boulware and wife Kris, David Calverley (DJ) and wife Roblyn, Daniel Boulware and wife Melyssa, Shonda Harned and husband Shawn and gift grandson Bryan Mahaney and wife Angela.  Great grandchildren include Lexis, Leeah, Eli, Emmalee, Rilynn, Luke and Carroline (twins to be born August 2022), Shawn, Charissa, Jeremy, Christopher and Kyle. She also had many nieces and nephews.

Carrol was preceded in death by parents Harry and Faye Richards, sister Anita and brother Jerry.

Carrol had a very unique sense of humor and could tell a funny story like nobody else.  She was an avid reader and visited the library to check out a large stack of books every couple of weeks for as long as her children can remember.  Her vast reading gave her the ability to discuss almost any topic.  She handmade beautiful quilts for her family until her arthritis prevented her from quilting anymore.  Her quilts had the most amazing tiny, perfect stitches.  She was an excellent seamstress and her biggest pride was a man's full suit she made.  She was a self-taught piano player and started singing and playing for her church in her early teenage years.

She was a homemaker during the years her kids were growing up.  Her life spanned many areas of others' lives.  Although she suffered with depression and severe anxiety she served on the PTA, taught Sunday school classes, was a campfire girl leader, lead campfire camp singing while playing her harpsicord, taught a sewing class to young girls, made a gazillion paper flowers to decorate a cheerleading float, made many Halloween costumes, organized participation in parades, helped with many fundraisers, planned weddings and sewed at least one wedding dress.  Friends of her children still comment on her hospitality, always inviting them to join for dinner.  She and her husband of 20 years designed and built a very unique living room suit that consisted of a couch and chair that hung from the ceiling on chains.  She sewed all the cushions and painted the family piano lime green.  She prepared a balanced hot meal every single day for her family because eating out was not very common and certainly not within budget.

She became her daughter's Nanny at the time when her daughter had 3 very active teenage boys, a toddler, a new baby and was working full time. She faithfully and patiently transported kids to school and back, to many activities and often made additional trips to school to deliver forgotten homework without complaint.  She kept the laundry done, prepared many of the meals and kept the house clean.  She could often be found cleaning the bedroom of one of the kids to relieve them of the burden.  Her daughter didn't agree with it but she was not to be deterred.

While she was prepared for her homegoing she was saddened to leave her loved ones behind.  She was thankful to get to see sonogram pictures of her twin grandchildren due this year and she already loved them.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life and she loved them all dearly.  She definitely leaves a void in many lives and will be missed until we are reunited in heaven.
