Cecil Delton Thomasson was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle.  He was known for his love of serving others and loving his family fiercely.  Cecil was born in Eastland, TX on September 24, 1936 to Charlie and Mary Thomasson and passed away on January 7, 2020 at the age of 83.

Cecil leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol Ann (Gaddy) Thomasson; son, Todd Thomasson and his wife Melinda of Allen, TX; son Scott Thomasson and his wife Amanda of Venus, TX.  He also leaves his grandchildren Brittany Gonzales and her husband Anthony, Brandon Thomasson, Mary Hutchison and her husband Parker, Bailey Rudolph and her husband Chase, and Sarah Thomasson, as well as his 4 great grandchildren: Nora and Jude Hutchison, Rhen Rudolph, and Ryleigh Thomasson.

Cecil was a veteran and served his country from 1959-1961 in Germany in the United States Army.  Service defined his life from start to finish. He ran restaurants for over 40 yrs. He was given an IMAGE Christian Service Award for his dedication and service to others.  He was devoted to serving his church family by cooking many Thanksgiving meals, CARE Corps, and the much-anticipated church-wide Easter egg hunt. There are many more stories of how Cecil served others in multiple capacities. Taking care of the needs that he saw was important to him.

He was affectionately known as "Opa" to everyone who knew him, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He enjoyed golf and watching the evening news. With a garage full of woodworking tools, he created many things but building birdhouses was his passion. His grandchildren remember how ticklish his feet were and often sneaking up to tickle them when he was reclining.

Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2020, at 10:00 am with the  Memorial Service following at 11:30 am at the CARE Church, 1504 E. Campbell Road, Richardson, TX 75081. Flowers can be sent to Allen Funeral Home, 508 Masters Avenue, Wylie, TX 75098.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to CARE Church for their CARE Corps ministry.
