Charlotte Mathilde Kohler Conn, 96, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Mustang Creek Assisted Living in Sachse, Texas.  She was born on May 25, 1929, in Strasbourg, France. She spent many of her younger days in an orphanage after her parents died, until Auguste and Sophie Stiener took her in. Their home was in Eckbolsheim, France, and she endured many hardships in her young life, living in a war-torn country. In 1954, she married Melvin St. John, a US Air Force serviceman.  Melvin, Charlotte (pregnant with Kevin), and Ricky came to Washington, D.C. in 1956.  After getting out of the military in 1958, they raised their children in the Wylie and Garland area.

Charlotte was a homemaker for most of her life, dedicating herself to her family with love, care, and unwavering support. She was known for her gourmet cooking skills, always ready to entertain guests with a lavish table set with fine China, ironed linens, and polished silver, serving delicious "fancy" food.  Her Yorkshire pudding, Bouchee a La Reine, and hot German potato salad were family favorites. No one ever left her home with an empty stomach.

Charlotte enjoyed traveling all over the USA in campers and motor homes, and she also made many trips back to her home in Europe to visit relatives.

She reconnected with Joe Conn in the mid 1970's, who she had actually met in Germany when he was in the Air Force in the '50's.  They married in 1978 and were for 40 years.  They lived in Garland for many years, before Joe's work took them to Tyler for 10 years. Then they returned to Wylie for retirement.  They attended First Baptist Church in Wylie, and both Charlotte and Joe were baptized by A. L. Draper on his very last Sunday as pastor of that church.

Charlotte is survived by her son, Mikel St. John (Elizabeth) of Wylie; Daughter-in-law, Pam St. John of Sachse; daughter, Gaby Lecuirot (Alain) of France. Her grandchildren are Charlie St. John (Lauren) of Lewisville; Ryan St. John (Ashley) of Wylie; Katy Link (Matt) of Tyler; Drew St. John (Marissa) of Wylie; Ashley St. John (fiancé Lucus) of Alba; Mikel St. John Jr. (Michelle) of Colorado Springs, CO.  Great-grandchildren are Nicolle and Grayson St. John; Carson St. John; Pearson, Nash & Collins Link; Gideon & Jonah St. John; other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild in France. She is also survived by step-children, Joe Will Conn III (Bonnie) of FL, Joy Conn Hunt (Dennis) of AL.  Step-grandchildren are Amber Baldi and Sara Hawks, and 3 step great grandchildren.
