Chris' life was characterized by his love for his family, friends and all animals. He never knew a stranger and had friends throughout the world. He was his mother's best friend and cherished his brothers and sister and nieces and nephews.  Chris is survived by his mother, Charlotte Merriam, step-father, Bob Merriam, father, Robert Duffield, sister, Stephanie Williams, her husband, Bryan, brother, Mark Duffield and his wife, Amy.  Step-brothers, Mark and David Merriam. Nieces and nephews, Mackenzie and Colton Williams, Haley, Luke, and Kiley Duffield.  His nephews in Alabama, Logan, Vonn, Olivia and Madelyn.  He loved self improvement and was quick to preach on how to better oneself. In fact, he was always right you know.

Chris was a great baseball player and loved his Astros. He was most excited when the Astros won the World Series. We are very thankful he got to witness this in his lifetime. He loved any team from Houston. Mark remembers watching, with Chris, the Rockets win back to back titles in the '90s. If anyone ever watched a game with Chris you certainly heard his passion come out, i.e. "Catch the f***ing ball", "You idiot", and some other great phrases. It was always fun to enjoy a game with Chris.

Chris was a fabulous, caring, and loving older brother. He took on a fatherly role at an early age and protected Stephanie and Mark. Mark always remembered Chris defending him when a boy called to threaten Mark for saying he wasn't good enough to date Stephanie. Chris grabbed the phone and gave that boy a tongue lashing. Mark never heard from him again. This is an example of Chris' love, even when he was stuffing Mark in a hamper when they were younger. He always made us laugh and was always there for us. Chris had a funny way of showing his love to his brother and sister. Let's just say, it had something to do with his middle finger, but we always giggled at him.
