Cory Andrew Riggs of Wylie, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021, after he was struck down quickly with Covid-19. He was 38.  Cory was a young man with a heartwarming smile, who was extremely happy and living his best life with his loving wife, children and family.

Cory was born November 1,1982, in Van Nuys, California and was the oldest child of Cheryl Dee (Gardner) and Daniel Reed Riggs. He was the best big brother and loved being a "Funcle" (fun uncle) to his nephews. His large personality touched so many people with his humor and caring, helping heart.

Cory met the love of his life Laura in high school in Thousand Oaks, California.  They were married in 2006 and have two beautiful children, Elizabeth and Xander.

Cory and Laura moved to Texas in 2020 in order to provide a better life for their family. He influenced his friends, parents and brother Shawn to also make the move to Texas in 2021. He enjoyed being part of the Wylie Community and First Baptist Church; however, the strong friendships he made in California continued to be a large part of his life.

He loved everything football and was already a Cowboys fan long before moving to Texas. Cory started out as a Committee Chair with Cub Scouts and after moving to Texas took on more responsibilities. He liked Boys Scouts because it allowed him to participate in many fun activities with his son. Last season he enjoyed spending time with his daughter while coaching her softball team, the Sandlot Sluggers.

Perhaps because his initials spelled CAR, he loved to talk about cars and was the family's "fix-it guy," which included anything and everything: cars, RVs, boats and home repairs!  He was most happy when he was fixing things, at the lake, camping and spending time with his family.

Cory had an engineering mind ever since he was a child, always figuring out how things worked. He became an expert at anything he became interested in. He earned his pilot's license at age 18, then went on to run the family pizzeria as Vice President and General Manager at Hungry Howie's Pizza. Cory's intelligence and talented mind allowed him to shine during his telecommunications careers with Verizon, Cyient and Frontier. He touched the lives of many people at his current position with Frontier as the Network Operations Supervisor.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Laura Marie Riggs, and their two children: Elizabeth Sarah-Jane Riggs and Alexander (Xander) Wallace Riggs, as well as siblings Shawn Riggs, Crystal Plouffe (Nicholas) and Tyler Riggs.

Cory will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at First Baptist Wylie Church (100 N 1st St, Wylie, TX 75098) August 28th, 2-4pm.
