Obituary for David Lee New

David Lee New, born on August 12, 1970, to Elizabeth Faye Hawkins and Richard Allen New, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, December 28, 2024. He was 54 years old.

David was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Elizabeth Faye Hawkins. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lion New; his cherished son, Leighton New, and Leighton's wife, Megan New; his son's mother, Melanie New; and his stepchildren, Elijah, Priscilla, and Samantha Alvarado. He also leaves behind three treasured grandchildren, Emery, Elsey, and Ezra Geisler; his father, Richard New; two loving sisters, Christie New and Lissa New; and his lifelong best friend, John Persson.

David graduated from Grand Prairie High School and pursued his passion in the electrical field, earning his license as a Master Electrician. For over 30 years, David dedicated himself to his craft, earning the respect and admiration of all who worked alongside him.

In 1993, David met Melanie, and the two married on November 4, 1995. They were blessed with their son, Leighton, born on December 18, 1998. Though their paths later diverged, their shared love for their son remained unwavering.

In 2019, David found love again with Lion, whom he married on September 7 of that year. Lion would often say that David was the greatest blessing in her life, and David loved her deeply.

David was a kind-hearted and selfless man who was always ready to help others. Known for his genuine spirit and many friendships, David touched countless lives with his generosity and warmth. Though his time with us was far too short, his legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the life he lived and the joy he brought to those around him. David's memory serves as a reminder to cherish each moment and to love unconditionally.
