Don served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, as a truck and heavy equipment mechanic. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Hugo Fire Department for many years. He and his father owned Rawls Brake and Muffler Service for over 40 years in Hugo. He was very passionate about the business and the many customers he served.

Don is survived by his daughter, Debby Mayfield and her husband, Sam Mayfield of Wylie, TX. His granddaughter, Samantha Smith and her husband Dewayne Smith of Justin, TX, and his grandson Casey Mayfield of Wylie, TX. His sister Peggy Downs and her husband Dwight Downs of Hugo, OK. As well as his nieces Kelly Downs Perry and her two children, and Traci Downs Allen, her husband Stephen Allen and their two sons. He is also survived by other friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Hugo on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 officiated by Pastor Randy Mayfield of Victory Life Church in Durant, OK.
