Donald George Hallum passed away December 8, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He
battled kidney cancer and pulmonary fibrosis.

Don was born February 17, 1937, in Russellville, Arkansas, to George J. and Cora I.
Hallum. He graduated from Russellville High School in 1955. Then he studied music
and voice at Arkansas Tech University where he earned his BA in 1959. He dedicated
his life to Christ in 1956 and was active in his church wherever he lived as long as his
health permitted.

On June 21, 1959, Don married Sally Ann Featherston of Paris, AR. He served as a
band director in the County Line and Springdale school districts of Arkansas. In 1966,
he went to work with First Pyramid Life Insurance Co., and in 1968 he started working
for New York Life Insurance Company. During those 30 years he was an agent,
manager, and trainer earning certifications with CLU.

After retiring in 1997, he and Sally moved to Wylie, Texas to be near family. He soon
began working with the Wylie Insurance Agency and worked there for 11 years. After
this second retirement, he became very active working with and advocating for Senior
Adults. He served as an ombudsman with the Area Agency on Aging visiting nursing
homes and helping residents. He was instrumental in helping the Senior Adult group in
Wylie raise funds and relocate to the former Smith Library with the help of many friends,
family, and the City of Wylie.

He is survived by a daughter, Vicki Hallum McKinney and her husband, David, two
grandsons, Max McKinney, Casey McKinney, wife Brittany, and great granddaughter
Sawyer McKinney. He is also survived by two nieces, Ann Stillman, and Jane Mick
along with 3 great nephews and a great niece.

Memorial Service scheduled this Friday, December 16, 2022, 11:00 a.m., with visitation
at 10:30 a.m., at Allen Funeral Home, 508 Masters Ave., Wylie, TX 75098. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the giver's favorite charity.
