Doris Janell (Nell) Carr Cardwell

Heaven gained another angel…Nell Cardwell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in Wylie, Texas at the age of 92 years.  Her family believes her soul was tired and she was ready to go home. For all who knew her, she was a "pistol". Nell also had a servant's heart and volunteered for many years in the Wylie community until she was in her 80s.

Nell was born on Wednesday June 12, 1929 in Snowhill, Texas to parents Frank and Ollie Carr. Nell was the 12 ^th of 13 children.

Nell married John W. Cardwell on October 5, 1946. And they were happily married for 43 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. John and Nell traveled the United States beginning in 1956.  John's job with the federal government required their moving as his job was to oversee large construction contracts for them.  The family enjoyed living in Fort Leavenworth Kansas, Altus Oklahoma, Albuquerque New Mexico, South Rim Grand Canyon, Arizona, Teec Nos Pos, Arizona and Many Farms, Arizona.  The family finally returned to Texas settling in St. Paul.

While living in Leavenworth, Kansas Nell became a member of the Eastern Star. Nell volunteered and served as a board member of the Christian Care Center in Wylie. In 1994 and 1996 Nell received the "Volunteer of the Year" Award from the City of Wylie.

Nell had a green thumb and was a member of the Garden Club in Wylie. For years she was a volunteer as a driver for Meals on Wheels taking hot meals to shut-ins.

Beginning in 1979 Nell became a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in St. Paul. Texas. Previously Nell was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. Nell had been a Sunday School Teacher for many years.

Nell loved her horse "Dusty" and enjoyed her Barbados Sheep and her goats.

Surviving Nell is her legacy of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; children  Doug and Susan Cardwell, Wylie, TX and Jay Cardwell, Kearny, Az., Lenora Trimble, Lansing, KS, daughter-in-law Evelyn Cardwell, Kaufman, TX, sister-in-law Lenora Trimble, Lansing, KS, Evelyn Cardwell, Kaufman, TX, sister-in-law Fay Nell Carr, 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Nell was preceded in death by husband John Wesley Cardwell, parents Andrew Frank Carr and Ollie Beatrice Anderson Carr; children and their spouses, Betty Lou and Bob Marshall, Johnny Cardwell, Donald and Velma Cardwell, Virginia "Red and George East, son-in-law, Bob Trimble, daughter-in-law, Vicki Cardwell, grandson and his spouse Bobby Jim and Dottie Marshall and grandson Brad Allcorn. Her siblings and their spouses, Lois and Archie Lang, Lewis and Argyl Carr, Arnie and Geraldine Carr, Jimmy and Bertie Carr, Otis and Helen Carr, Frankie"Buddy" Carr and  Frances "Sis" and Johnny Mack, Mildred, Rupert and 3 babies.

Funeral Service is 10 A.M. Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Wylie, Texas Brother Roger Berghauser will officiate. Interment will follow at Turrentine Jackson Morrow's Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 North Central Expressway, Allen, Texas 75013.
