Our beloved Mother, Edith Davene Embrey, passed away peacefully at home with her family on August 26,2020 after a hard-fought battle with dementia.

She was born Edith Davene Tate on August 30, 1923in Wynnewood OK, to William David and Fannie McCollum Tate. After graduating high school, and a short stint at secretarial school in Dallas, Mom met and married our father, Olan Ray Embrey.

Mom and Dad had five children:  Julie Hobbs, Jim Embrey, Nancy Dominguez, Laurie DeBardeleben and Cathy McNeese,as well as 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her Memaw or GiGi.  She was loved and respected for her beauty, strength, hard work, humor and honesty.

Mom retired from Albertsons in Garland, where she worked in the bakery for many years.

Besides her family and friends, Mom's passions were gardening, cooking, reading, old gospel songs and attending church.Those who knew Mom could attest to the fact that she made the best iced tea around. Her coconut cakes could get her pastor and sound director into a bidding war during a bake sale. There was nothing she couldn't cook or bake that didn't come out delicious.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Olan Ray Embrey, parents David and Fannie, brothers Denny, Sid, Gerald, Billy Joe and sisters Lucille, Louise, and Rosalie. She is survived by her five children, daughter-in-law Linda Embrey, sons-in-law Glenn Hobbs, Everett McNeese and John DeBardeleben, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as her youngest sister, Edna Carol Tate Robinson of Durant, Oklahoma.
