Obituary for Edward Lee Ray

Edward Lee Ray, age 92, of Wylie, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024. He was born on March 17, 1932, in Clarita, Oklahoma, to the late Otho B Ray and Irene Ray.

Edward proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to LTV Energy Products as a Quality Inspector until his retirement.

Edward married the love of his life, Nettie Pearl Dawson, on December 28, 1959, in Childress, Texas. Together, they shared a beautiful life until her passing on May 2, 2004. Edward was also preceded in death by his siblings: Orvel Ray of Wapanucka, OK; Earnest "Jack" and Midge Ray of Sharpsburg, GA; John Ray of Atoka, OK; Eugene Ray of Roff, OK; Jake "Junior" Ray of Wapanucka, OK; Sue Morgan of Campell, TX and Dorthey Brown of Wapanucka, OK.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Ray of Wylie, TX, and daughter, Tammy Dunn of Rowlett, TX. Edward will be deeply missed by his brother, Baker Ray and wife Shirley of Durant, OK; sisters Lula "Morene" and spouse Gary Norman of Reno, TX; and Tressa "Faye" Kite of Whitney, TX; sister-in-law Betty Ray of Roff, OK, and his 5 beloved grandchildren (Christopher, Lauren, Erin, Larissa and Stacie).

Edward Lee Ray will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his unwavering love of dance, gardening, and spending time with family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Allen Funeral Home, located at 508 Masters Ave, Wylie, TX 75098.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Edward's life will be held at Allen Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6th at 10:00 am. Pallbearers for the service will include Eddie Morgan, Jeff Ray, Landry Ray, Rick Brumfield, James Bragg, and Wally Berends.

Following the funeral service, a graveside service will take place at Big A Cemetery, 3740 Big A Rd, Rowlett, TX 75089.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society.
