Genevieve Cleo Coffman Lucas

Genevieve Cleo Coffman Lucas, 89, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on May 24, 2022, following a brief illness.

Genevieve was born June 26, 1932 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was the third of eleven children born to Charlie and Fern Bodkin Coffman. She had seven sisters and three brothers.

Genevieve graduated from Shawnee High School in May, 1950.Sheattended Oklahoma Baptist University for two years. She worked at Sylvania Electric where she served as Secretary-Treasurer in the local union.

In 1953, she met Clarence Lucas through mutual friends. They were married March 20, 1954, in a double wedding ceremony with Don and Jackie Lusk.

Genevieve and Clarence had four children: Carol, Cathy, Connie, and Carl. With the family complete, they moved to Dallas in 1962. In 1963, they became members of the Radio Church of God which soon after became The Worldwide Church of God. Genevieve continued attending as an active member of the United Church of God following the death of her husband in 2007.

She had five grandchildren: Stacie, Kristina, Mark, Jason (Ace), and Rebecca and had four great-grandchildren: Rachel, Ruth, Asher, and Asa who called her GGG (Great-grandma Genevieve).

Genevieve was a stay-at-home mom and care provider for numerous friends and family.

Genevieve was a very accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed making clothes for her daughters.She also loved sketching, quilting, knitting, reading, and gardening.

Genevieve was predeceased by her husband Clarence Lucas; her parents Charlie, and Fern Coffman; sisters Juanita Neighbors, Wanda Abel, Helen Morris, Peggy Lofton, Sherrell Formanski, Patty Coffman Robertson; and her brothers Jim Coffman and Doug Coffman.

She is survived by her daughters Carol (Randall) Barnes; Cathy (Tim) Cockrell; Connie (Mike) Ingram; son Carl Lucas, granddaughters Stacie (Charles) Jefferson; Kristina Ingram; Rebecca Barnes; and grandsons Mark Cockrell and Jason (Anna) Cockrell; great grandchildren Rachel, Ruth, Asher, and Asa; brother Charles Coffman; sister Arlene (Gene) Atterberry, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
