Gloria Jean Puckett, 67 of Ben Wheeler Texas was called home to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 29, 2021.

She was born July 17, 1953 to Stanley Eugene "Gene" and Dolores Lera Puckett in Dallas, Texas.

Gloria was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her laugh was infectious, she always loved a good joke. She was the most unselfish woman with the biggest heart full of love for her children and grandchildren. She touched so many of our lives in many ways and we were honored to have her.

Gloria Jean married at a very young age – and became a Mother shortly after, she enjoyed spending time with her children – very rarely doing something or buying something for herself.  She enjoyed taking the kids to East Texas to see  her Mother – and other sisters that lived close by.  Some of the best moments and pictures were simple gatherings sitting outside or around a camp fire.  If there was one hobby she enjoyed herself – it was riding horses.

Her smile and laughter was one of a kind, Later in life she would come up to Dallas to see her children – she always wanted to try and make up for lost times.  Over the last few years she really enjoyed talking to her children on long late night talks which occurred with all of her children.  She was always the one who wouldn't judge and really tried to be the listener but she was best at talking.   Some refer to her as the life of the party – because she was always laughing and really tried to live life to its fullest.  Gloria Jean unfortunately had some bad luck as she got older with her overall health.  By the age of 40 she was a diabetic and before 50 she had progressive liver failure – although she outlived the Doctors prognosis of 2 years to live by over 20+ years.  She was a very tough woman – could tolerate pain like very few - a real fighter for sure – as her hope was to obtain a liver transplant in October of last year but was denied and she was striving to get stronger in therapy so that she could reapply this year.

Gloria Jean is preceded in death by her father Stanley "Gene" Puckett, mother Dolores Derrick and her son Stanley Joe Davis.

Those left to cherish her memories are her loving family: daughter Jeannie Davis and son in law Michael Davis of Garland.  Son – Joe Davis and daughter-in-law Jennifer Davis of Plano.  Son Jeff Davis and daughter-in-law Shanna Davis of Murphy, Son Justin Martinez and daughter-in-law Miranda Martinez of Rowlett. Daughter Chelsea Martinez of Ben Wheeler.  Daughter - Alicia Soto and son in law Francisco Soto of Garland.  Daughter – Amanda Thornton&son in law Allen Thornton of Heath. Gloria Jean had eighteen incredible grandchildren whom she loved and adored, Nikki McElroy, Nonye Anazodo, Delaney Davis, Dylan Davis, Cade Davis, Brek Davis, Collins Davis, Dylan Martinez, Isabella Martinez, Cadence Martinez, Breanna Martinez, Xavier Martinez, Luis Soto, David Soto, Adrian Soto, Emma Thornton, Sophia Thornton and Mason Thornton.  Her beloved siblings Marylin Jones, Carolyn Gibson, Delores Annette Tomerlin, and Mike Derrick. Three great-grandchildren Jayden, Jayse, and Marlee McElroy.  She also had several nieces and nephews and other loving extended family and friends.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate and share memories of Gloria's life on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Allen Family Funeral Home in Wylie, Texas at 10:30 a.m.
