James (Jim) Ray Boss, 83, of Wylie passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 in Sachse, Texas.  Jim was born on Thursday, September 20, 1936, in the small community of Whitewright, Texas.  His parents are the late Howard Peterson and Lillian Lucille (Lindley) Boss.  Jim served in both the United States Army and then transferred the United Sates Air Force. He retired from the Air Force in May of 1994.  While in the military Jim met Norma Mae Berry.  They married in Southmayd, Texas on June 6, 1964.  Norma preceded Jim in death.

Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church Wylie.  He volunteered his time to the Boy Scouts of America. Jim had worked for the Katie Railroad and General Telephone.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Karla K. Herriage and her husband, Jeff of Sachse and son, Matt Boss of Wylie.  He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Amanda Herriage and Tanner Herriage. Jim was preceeded in death by his parents, wife Norma, sister Mable Carpenter and brother William H. Boss.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Allen Funeral Home Chapel.  Jim's funeral service will be Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church Wylie in the Draper Chapel. Dr. A. L. Draper, Rev. Charlie Busbee and Rev. Allen Stroud will be officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
