James Sterling Wright, 58, of Wylie, Texas passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 in Wylie.  James was born on Tuesday, September 5, 1961 in Dallas to Huey and Sue Wright.  Huey and Sue moved their family to Wylie in 1972.  James is a graduate of the Wylie High School Class of 1980.  James played left tackle for the Pirate Football Team.  He was a member of the 1977 State Champions and also the 1978 runners up to the State Championship.  James married Mary Bolton on May 28, 1989 in Wylie.  James and Mary made Wylie their home.  James followed in the family's occupation of barbers and opened Wright's Barber Shop on May 1, 1990 in downtown Wylie.

Of all things he did, James enjoyed spending time with his family the most, whether a sporting event, playing with his grandkids or church on Sundays. In recent years he especially enjoyed being an empty nester and traveling to new places with Mary.

Surviving James is his wife of 30 years, Mary; children, Taylor Jones, Alicia Wright Seeton, Heather Wright Bragg, Brody Wright; parents, Huey and Sue Wright; brother, Tim Wright and his grandchildren, Jackson, Hadley, Tallon, Rhett, Tucker and Tate.  James was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrell Wright and Rex Wright.

A visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.at First Baptist – Wylie in the Sanctuary.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 10:30 A.M.  in the First Baptist Wylie Sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wylie Christian Care Center in James' name and memory.
