Jerry Allen Thompson, age 82 of Garland, TX, passed away December 11, 2023. He was born March 16, 1941 in Ft. Worth, TX to James Null and Myrtle Hess. Jerry met his wife Janis at E Systems in 1983, got married August 31, 1984, and combined their families with their children Trent, Traci, and Jerri. He was an army veteran, worked at E Systems as a Quality Engineer, and then started a new career driving an 18 wheeler. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed puzzles, fruity frozen margaritas, going to the casino, grilling for the family, and fishing. He had a lifelong love of motorcycles and rode with Janis and their good friends, taking multiple cross-country trips. He went by many names: Jerry, Papa, Grumpy, Daddy, & Pops. He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Janis; children: Jerri, Trent & Sherry, and Traci; grandchildren: Tara, Katy, Claire & Zach, Michael & Courtney, Tessa & Reha, Robbie, and Brian; sisters: Marita and Diane; and countless other loving family members and friends. One of the final joys of his life was seeing a picture of his newborn great-grandson Michael Joseph IV. He is also survived by his two spoiled dogs, Sassy and Giggles, who ate breakfast with him every morning and shared every snack. The visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home in Wylie, TX.
