Jerry Dale Cooper, 83, a longtime Wylie resident, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Plano, Texas. He was born in Sachse on August 23, 1939, to Clayton Everette and Pauline (Behrens) Cooper. A gifted athlete, from basketball to roller skates, Jerry graduated from Wylie High School in 1957. He started his career working for Braniff Airways, and then the Wylie Water Treatment Plant, eventually becoming an electrician in the defense electronics industry for E-Systems, now known as Raytheon Technologies, retiring in 2001.

Jerry attended First Baptist Church of Wylie for much of his life. An avid golfer and seasoned traveler, he was also a talented singer and musician who enjoyed taking to the microphone to perform — on stage, for friends, and in social settings.

Jerry is survived by his children, Dana (Sam) Bert of North Richland Hills; Clay (Tina) Cooper of Branson, Mo.; stepchildren Bill Winfrey of Frisco, and Tami (Hugh) Dale of Prosper; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and sister Sharron Cooper-Smith of West Plains, Mo. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents Clayton Everette and Pauline Cooper, and siblings Billie Jean Howell, Danny, and Kent.

Services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Allen Funeral Home, 508 Masters Avenue, Wylie, Texas, with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service. Jerry will be laid to rest in The Wylie Cemetery.
