Funeral service is being held on August 1st, 2023, for Jerry Edward Cryer, age 85, at First Christian Church in Mineola, where Mr. Cryer had lived for the past 26 years.  Interment in Thompson Cemetery in Lavon (7000 S. Hwy 78, Nevada, TX).

Mr. Cryer died July 28th, 2023.  He was born October 22, 1937, in Lavon, to Robby and Jessie (Gracy) Cryer.  He graduated from Wylie High School in 1955.  He was employed for 28 years with Kroger Foods and retired in 1997.  He moved to Mineola after retirement and had many interests which included fishing, traveling and carpentry.  He was active in the Mineola First Christian Church, Lake Country RV Travelers, and a Mason for 61 years.  He was named Man of the Year in 2008 in the Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

He married Frances (Connelly) Foster on June 4th, 1977.  Survivors include his wife, Frances, of Mineola; sons, Steve Cryer, of Mineola; Bruce Cryer, and his wife, Tracey, of Farmersville; daughters, Teri Whittaker, and her husband, Mark, of Arlington; Shari Covington, and her husband, Richard, of Garland.  Son, Gary Foster, and his wife, Sandee, of Wylie; daughters, Sherry Flesher, and her husband, Donnie, of Mineola; and Mary Guinn, and her husband, Mike, of Chouteau, OK.

Additional survivors include sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Robby and Jessie Cryer; one brother, Benny, and his wife, Martha Cryer; one sister, Betty, and her husband, Thomas Maynard.
