Jim Norris Obituary

Jim Ollie Norris age 97 of Wylie, Texas passed away March 12, 2023. Jim was born on August 4, 1925 in Pottsboro, TX to Roy and Alice Norris. His family later relocated and settled in Bennington, Oklahoma. After he married his wife, Jewell, they moved to Wylie, TX in 1955.

Jim was a jack of all trades and there was very little he couldn't fix except the brand new clock he took apart right after his mother brought it home because he wanted to see how it worked. Jim was a devoted husband to his wife Jewell and a loving father to his children Barbara, Loy, and Danny. Nothing made him happier than being around his family.

Jim started working at Perrin Air Force Base during WWII to keep the planes flying. After the war he became a mason. During that time he bricked
Shiloh Baptist Church and the bell tower at First Baptist Church Wylie. He finished out his career as an A/C technician.

Jim loved his church and was a deacon at First Baptist Wylie where he and his family were members for over 60 years. He enjoyed being a part of Happy Circle where he and his many church friends traveled around the country seeing new sites and making memories.

Jim is survived by his sisters Peggy Williams and Donna Trapani; his daughter, Barbara, and husband Mark Wise, son, Loy, and wife Pam Norris, and son, Danny Norris; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews along with special friends to the family; Pam, Danny, and Cole Wells. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Norris, parents Roy and Alice Norris, brother J.P. Norris, sisters Mary Rawlins and Kathryn Marquez

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at the Allen Funeral Home Chapel.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Brother A.L. Draper officiating.  Jim will be laid to rest next to his wife Jewell at Lake View Cemetery in Lavon.
