Joseph Carl Briggs, III went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2023.  He was born on September 5, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and six weeks later moved to Dallas with his parents and older sister, Valerie.  Joe grew up on fifty acres in Dallas County with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He graduated from Duncanville High School in 1968.  During high school, Joe played the clarinet in the marching band and was also the drummer in a band with his friends called Sounds in Motion.  They were popular in Duncanville and were asked to play at many dances and other parties.  Joe attended college at Dallas Baptist University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas Arlington in 1974.  During his college years Joe began working at his father's business, Keystone Furniture, where he continued working until its closure.  Joe then continued in sales with Southern Forest Product Association, International Paper, and Roseburg Forest Products where he specialized in engineered wood products.

Among Joe's many gifts was his ability to design, create, and build.  He was a "Mr. Fix-It" and his family and friends often relied on these skills and his help.  Joe's younger days as a Boy Scout helped him assist his grandson Ryan design and build a pinewood derby car; they won 2nd place.  Family was of the utmost priority for Joe and his love for his family was well reciprocated.  Joe had a deep faith in the Lord and was a member of Lake Highlands Church in Dallas where he attended with his family for 33 years.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothea Lou and Joseph C. Briggs, Jr, and his eldest sister Valerie Ann Pike.  He is survived by his younger sister, Lezlie Lynn Briggs; his wife of 44 years, Jolynn Allen Briggs; his daughter Jennifer Lou Rickard and her husband Scott Rickard and their two sons, Ryan and Collin; his son Joseph Carl Briggs, IV (Jay), his wife Shivani Desai Briggs, and soon to be baby boy.  He is also survived by many loving cousins and friends.
