Beloved businessman Joseph George never met a stranger and left his impression on everyone he met. His family knew him as Daddy, Daddy Joe and friends called him Joe G.

Joe was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Otto and Winnie George (deceased) and they moved to Texas at an early age. He lived life to its fullest, making lifelong friends through the relationships built in Wylie.

Upon graduation, Joe was transferred to California to train in the Marine Corps. It was there he met Margaret Nilsen (Gooey) and they eloped to the Little White Chapel, Las Vegas, Nevada in 1959. Their marriage has stood firm for 62 years. They moved to Wylie in 1960 and started their life. Joe worked for E-systems until he ventured out into the entrepreneurial world, where he started Joe G's Food and Meat Market. Memories were made for so many in that store. We all loved Joe G's BBQ! He saw opportunities and seized them as he opened nightclubs in Dallas during the height of disco, restaurants and bars in surrounding areas. He was a home builder. He was passionate in the growth and success of Wylie. He served on the WISD School Board, City Council and Downtown Merchants Board. He supported FFA and created a college scholarship for FFA students.

Joe and Margaret left Wylie and landed in Oklahoma for the duration of his life.

Joe is survived by his wife Margaret George of Tulsa, daughters Jodi Turner (Pat) of Tulsa, Carmen George-Studer (Dave Wehmeyer) of Colorado Springs, CO and Rhonda Altemus (Dan) of Newport, PA. His grandchildren Katherine Vuocolo (Josh), Michael Turner, Matthew Turner, Luke Turner, Greydon Studer (Brittany), Devyn Jonash (Adam), Brittany Altemus (deceased), Julie Altemus and Daniel Altemus (Jocelyn). His eight great-grandchildren and many lifelong friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Winnie George, his siblings Maurice, Neta Gay, Azalea and Sonny and his granddaughter Brittany.

Memorial service is planned for November 20,2021, 11 :00 a.m., Allen Funeral Home Chapel, Wylie, Texas.
