Lefa (Marie) Lemons Obituary

Lefa (Marie) Tackett Lemons, 84, of Wylie Texas was born on June 23, 1939 in Blue Ridge, Texas.  She passed peacefully from this earth and entered into the kingdom of Heaven on Friday August 25, 2023.  She was born in Blue Ridge, Texas and moved to Wylie with her family in 1951.  She was a graduate of Wylie High School in the class of 1957.  She married Ralph on her 18th birthday in 1957 and began their life together.  After serving in the Army, she and Ralph moved back to Wylie to begin their family.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wylie for many years.

She is survived by her son Phil Lemons and his wife Catherine of Shallowater, Texas; her daughter Lori McCalla and her husband Gary of Wylie, Texas; one Granddaughter, Meggie Hunter and her husband Ryan of Shallowater; and her Step-Grandson Kyle McCalla of Waxahachie, Texas.  And the three loves-of-her-life, Hayden, Hance & Henry Hunter, her Great-grandsons!  Her sisters, Ruby England, Rose Cross, and Betty Atkins; her brothers Truman Tackett and David Tackett and his wife Shannon.  Many nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49+ years, Ralph Lemons; her parents Charlie & Ethel (Swafford); her brother Garland Tackett.

Marie loved life and enjoyed many years traveling and vacationing with family and friends.  She was a wonderful homemaker, loving to cook for Ralph and made the best Chicken Fried Steak and Apricot Fried Pies around.  (Her recipes were so good, Lori saved all her special recipes in a family cookbook that she printed and shared with all the Tackett family!)  She was an excellent seamstress, making most of the clothes Lori wore as a child.  She loved her town and enjoyed nothing more than watching Phil and his team with the state championship in football in the fall of 1977.   Or when she began quilting and entered the State Fair of Texas – where she one First Place one year!

She will be missed by many, especially during the Christmas Holidays when she and her sisters would take a day or two and make Christmas Candy to share with friends and family.

She will never be forgotten and we hope when you think of her, it brings a smile to your face.
