Dewayne Wilson, 80, lifetime resident of Wylie passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 in Plano, Texas.  Dewayne was born on Thursday, August 17, 1939 in Wylie.  His parents were Paul E. and Elvira (Stewart) Wilson. Dewayne grew up in Wylie and went to school in Wylie.  He met his future bride, Jackie Mozelle Riley, here in Wylie.  They later married at the First Baptist Church of Wylie on Saturday, July 9, 1960.   Dewayne had worked for Kraft Foods in Garland on the loading dock. He was a life long  member of the First Baptist Church of Wylie.

Dewayne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jackie Mozelle Wilson of Wylie; children, Larry Wilson and wife Tammi of Princeton, Leslie Wilson and wife Karen of Princeton and Lori Harris of Wylie; sister, Paula Dickerson of Pflugerville, Texas. He also leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren and grandchildren.  The grandchildren are Joey Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Koy Harris, Katy Wilson and Kallie Harris; great-grandchildren are Joseph Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Jonathan Jr. "Bubba" Savannah Wilson, Samantha Wilson, Jack Wilson, Sage Wilson, Lance Miller, Ally Miller and Kay Cochran and many other family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held on Friday January 22, 2021 at the Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Lowery Crossing, Texas.  His friend and pastor, Dr. A. L. Draper will officiate at the graveside.

Many people will remember Dewayne as never meeting a stranger and for his firm handshake and his welcoming smile.
