On June 21, 2020, Marcus Galen Elmore entered the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 35.

Marcus was born on July 25, 1984 in Dallas, TX to Edward J. and Megganey S. Elmore. He attended Garland ISD schools and was a typical teenager who liked bicycling, skateboarding and riding dirt bikes with his brother Eric, and secret car rides with sisters Andrea and Heather. As a younger boy, he enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing, riding horses and country drives. He also liked growing strawberries in the backyard and took pride in having such a successful green thumb. He had an affinity for a variety of pets that ranged from fish to reptiles then later cats, but found particular enjoyment with rescuing dogs. Pets provided the unconditional acts of love that fueled his spirit and provided purpose.

Marcus enjoyed all types of music from classic rock and alternative to EDM and Hip Hop.  He even tried his hand at playing the guitar and DJing using his dad's turntables. He was mechanically inclined, and once took apart a toaster to see why it wouldn't work, because he never took "just because" as an answer. In his adult years, his interest of understanding mechanics created the perfect transition to working on cars as he greatly enjoyed taking something broken and making it functional again. As a family, we took a special pleasure with Marcus surprising us with his exceptional ability to bake. We loved and enjoyed the great birthday cakes that he made for family members.

Marcus's greatest attribute was that he was a Christian. He carried around his worn bible and read it every day. He took solace with several versus and held on to those that soothed his heart and soul. He found comfort in visiting various denominations, and liked to attend Catholic churches to meditate and pray. He valued family and loved children, though he didn't have any of his own.

Marcus is survived by his parents Edward J. and Megganey S. Elmore; sister Heather Anders and husband Mike Anders of Wylie, sister Andrea Chonich and husband Nick Chonich of Colleyville, brother Eric Elmore of Plano, six nieces and nephews and his special friend Christina Lopez. He is preceded in death by all his grandparents.

The family will hold a private memorial in celebration of his life on Thursday, June 25th. Arrangements are being handled by Allen Funeral Home in Wylie, TX.  The family asks that in lieu of gifts or condolences, that donations or volunteer hours be provided to Mental Health America or the SPCA.
