Margaret Mary Fergason Mauk was born Nov 29, 1925 in O'Donald Texas to Dave and Loretta Fergason as the youngest of three children. She graduated Valedictorian at Sligo High School in West Texas. She surrendered her scholarship in order to attend US Cadet Nurse Corps in Dallas, TX in 1943 during WWII. She graduated 1948 after the end of the war. She then went to Incarnet Word in San Antonio, TX. Following she worked as traveling nurse with Dallas Power and Light. She married Kenneth A. Mauk (deceased in 2002) in Sep 1, 1951 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dallas, TX. She was the mother of 3 children.

During the time that Kenneth worked for Sperry Gyroscope, the family resided in New Orleans, Tulsa, Cleveland returning to TX in 1958 where they were owners of the local Western Auto Store on Ballard St in Wylie, TX. After 25 years as business owners and important city counsel, church members (parish members, altar society members and Treasurers of St Anthony Catholic Church for over 20 years) and volunteer nursing at the local school, she then returned to nursing at the Wylie hospital as head nurse on the night shift in 1981 where she delivered generations of new births. She contracted and overcame colon cancer in the late 90's eventually retiring as a practicing nurse. She continued, however, to maintain membership and periodic gatherings with the St. Paul Nursing Alumni group of which there is today one surviving member.

During her retirement she continued nursing services to the local community, providing care giving to her husband Ken while continuing her lively and noteworthy attendance at Family Reunions (which brought her enormous joy). She was the consummate networker keeping the family and its traditions alive. She sprung to life in preparing for these events…always with a terrific hat). In her final years she was a favorite at the Founders Plaza Nursing Home always flashing the trademark thumbs up and "couldn't be better" even while experiencing deep pain.

Margaret is survived by her three children: Daughter Damaris L Mauk, Daughter Janice M Mauk Enzone & husband Danny J Enzone, son Jerome K Mauk & wife Leslie J Gray Mauk, Grandchildren: Tyler Jerome (TJ) Mauk, Travis K Mauk. She was the favorite Aunt of her countless nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home (508 Masters Ave) on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Requiem Mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church (404 North Ballard St) on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery (3900 Rowlett Road) in Rowlett following services.
