Marvin Samuel Demings, 77, born and raised in Phillips, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 1, 2018. He was born on May 9, 1941 to Jess Elbert Demings and Clara Pauline Demings.

He graduated from Phillips High School and attended Texas Tech before joining the Army. After his time in the Army Security Agency, Marvin went to work for Texas Instruments and then Raytheon, where he worked on projects that would protect American soldiers and their allies.

In 1967 he married Karen, his wife of over 50 years. Together they raised their four children, Philip, Kim, John, and Jesse. Marvin enjoyed teaching Bible Class at Meadows Baptist Church where he and his wife, Karen, attended for over 47 years.

He enjoyed watching the Cowboys, Rangers and high school sports. Some of his favorite activities were spending time with the grandkids and attending their numerous events.

He is survived by his wife Karen Demings of Wylie, Texas; son, Philip Demings and wife, Shelley; daughter, Kim Middleton and husband Kyle; John Waits and wife, Lana; Jesse Demings and wife Rhonda; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tommy Demings and first wife, Anita Chelf Demings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5 at Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.

Visitation will be at the Allen Funeral Home in Wylie, Texas Monday, June 4 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
