Mary Helen (McElree) Ellis age 78, of Wylie, TX; passed away on October 15th, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, memaw, and friend. Mary was born on March 18, 1947, in Perry, Iowa, to John and Bernice (Susie) McElree.

Mary married the love of her life, Raymond Ellis on September 1, 1968, in El Paso, TX. They soon moved to Wylie, TX with their four children Phillip, Tena, John, and LouAnn, and then later had their fifth child, Tammy.

While living in Wylie and raising her children Mary babysat for multiple Wylie families, often creating long lasting bonds way into their adulthood. In earlier years, Mary was very involved with the Wylie ISD PTA, and she coached for the Wylie Soccer Association. As her children became older, Mary worked full-time for the City of Wylie as City Secretary, before branching into the corporate world at JC Penny. Following her time at JC Penny's, Mary worked as a substitute teacher for Wylie ISD.  After subbing for many years, she became a full-time employee in the school district in the Nutrition Department.  She worked at many of the Wylie schools and was later promoted to Cafeteria Manager and then Supervisor of Nutrition where she over seen multiple schools before she retired.

Mary was known to enjoy many hobbies such as riding motorcycles, quilting, reading and playing bingo. In her later years, she enjoyed adult coloring at the kitchen table, where friends and family were greeted with love and a "list of chores." Mary was known to take anyone in that needed it, no matter where you came from or what you did. There were always a bed and food and someone to talk to. She will be remembered for her immense love and care that she showed to everyone; a true mother to all.

Mary is survived by her daughter Tena Gray and her husband William and their son Ty. Daughter LouAnn Thompson and her children Justin, Brooke, Lilly and Peyton and his wife Rose.  Daughter Tammy Thomas and her husband Doug and their children Monica Rodriguez and her husband Eddie, Addie, and Levi Thomas.  Granddaughters Whitney Ellis and Jordan Ellis, and great-grandchildren Kaden Ellis, Emberli and Nakona Johnson, McKenzie and Weston Gray, Gunner Thomas, Sage and Oliver Rodriguez, Ella and Aubrey Luna, and Everest Mitchell, her brother Paul and his wife Gloria McElree, and many other friends and family.

Mary is proceeded in death by her husband Raymond Ellis, her two sons Phillip Ellis and John Eliis, her parents John and Bernice (Susie) McElree, and son-in-law Keith Thompson.
