It is with great sadness that the family of Melba Dean Harrison Gibson announces her
passing after she succumbed to complications from multiple illnesses, early in the morning
Sunday, Sept. 6th, 2020, at the age of 88 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Earl
Gibson, her children Vickie Moore, Jack Moore and wife Susie, Penny Roe and husband Tom, Patty
Wallace and husband Gary, Scott Moore and wife Debbie, Mike English and wife Kim. Melba will
also be fondly remembered by her 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister Darla
Sweeten, her long time friend Sharon Whitaker, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her daughter Polly Ann Rogers, husbands Floyd Shewbirt, Tom Glen Moore,
and John Riley English, her mother Edna and father Louis, and brothers Billy, Robert, Albert,
George, Wendell and Rex, and sisters June, Glenda and Christine.

Born April 6th 1932, in Chico Texas, to Louis Hamilton Harrison and Edna Lee Harrison,
Melba was a wife, homemaker, mother, school employee, Sunday school teacher, and a writer of
poetry and western novels. Melba had been a devoted servant of God for over 50 years, attending
church, serving the Lord, but mostly praying endlessly for the care and protection of her family.
She grew up in a sharecropping family and spent her youth in the Lavon area. She spent many
years working in the school cafeteria at Quinlan, Texas, and enjoyed living in Arkansas since 1991.
Visitation will be at Allen's Funeral Home in Wylie from 11 to 1 pm on Saturday, Sept. 12th. The
funeral service will be following at 1 pm. After the service there will be a graveside memorial at
the Millwood Cemetery in Lavon, Tx, on Co. Rd 535
