Michael "Mike" Earl Evans, age 67, of Garland, Texas passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while at work on July 10, 2024.  Mike was born on April 10, 1957 in Rockwall, Texas to parents Bobby Earl Evans of McKinney, Texas, and Bertha Lee (Sperling) Evans of Rowlett, Texas.  Mike was raised in Garland and graduated from Lloyd V. Berkner High School in 1976.

Thanks to the persistence, prayers and sacrifices of his mother while growing up, he remained true to the Catholic faith throughout his life.  He would always find a time and place to attend Mass on weekends, despite hectic work schedules or being out of town.

Mike's love for working on cars led him to his first two "real" jobs of being an auto mechanic, first at Central Volkswagen in Richardson and then Robert's Foreign Car Repair in Garland.  Having grown tired of working on cars for a living, Mike left the auto repair industry and pursued a career at Texas Instruments.  Mike held various assembly and maintenance positions and finally found his niche in building operations where he remained until his sudden death.

Mike's love of cars quickly resurfaced and became a hobby. First by drag racing a highly modified '65 Mustang and later by displaying his restored '68 Chevelle in car shows.  His car has won many trophies and awards which fill his home.  From his father, Mike had aviation in his blood.  He enjoyed attending airshows and supporting organizations that keep large vintage airplanes flying.

Mike was generous with his time and possessions.  More than once, he offered family members room in his house while they were displaced from their own homes.  Most recently, his sister moved in with her 5 cats until her home was repaired after a fire.  Mike never missed a chance to help family and friends with his time and equipment when any big project would come up.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha and survived by his father, Bobby, his sister Elizabeth Evans and brother James Evans (Mary), nieces Melanie and Sarah, nephews Mark and Michael, great-nieces Abigail and Emily, great-nephews Ethan and Nicholas, his good friend and neighbor Sophia Jones and her family and a host of long-time friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22nd, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (Rosary prayed at 7) at Allen Funeral Home, located at 508 Masters Ave, Wylie, TX 75098

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:00 AM at Saint Anthony Catholic Church located at 404 N. Ballard Ave. Wylie, TX 75098.

Internment will take place following after Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery located at 3900 Rowlett Road, Rowlett, TX 75088
