Mitzi Jeannine (Hatcher) Strain

July 16, 1929 - May 21, 2026

Mitzi was born in Howland, Texas on July 16, 1929 to Dixon Lewis Hatcher and Gladys Elizabeth (Barnard) Hatcher. She married Weldon Strain August 27, 1950. Mitzi was promoted on May 21, 2026 in Eastland, Texas at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles and husband Weldon.

Mitzi is survived by her daughter, Jan (Strain) Yeager (Dennis), two grandsons, Jason Yeager and Todd Yeager (Ryan) and two great grandsons Oliver and Griffin Yeager and sisters LouBeth Hendrix and Linda Hatcher as well as numerous nieces and nephews plus one very special fur baby, Rusty that she loved dearly.

Mitzi graduated Paris High School in '46, Paris Junior College in '48 and East Texas College in '50. As a coach's wife she spent time in Longview Springhill, Forney and Mesquite feeding, doctoring and encouraging the players like family. She was Daddy's biggest cheerleader. Mom also worked as secretary to four different Superintendents. I was so proud to hear them praise her for her work ethic, integrity and honesty. Mitzi was known for following the rules - No fudging!

Mitzi's passions were family, friends, reading and cooking. She researched the history of our family going back to the Civil War. Mitzi loved people - she helped take care of newborns when needed, she listened to other's concerns and helped find solutions - a very caring, compassionate and loving heart. This was evident til the last day of her life - loving her caregivers.

An avid reader, she kept up with current events and loved to debate. Mitzi enjoyed studying the cultures of other races. The cooking - the whole family is worried who will make the Christmas teacakes and buttermilk cake!
