Oscar Vernon Ozols

05/28/1956- 07/19/2022

The heart of our family, Oscar Vernon Ozols, passed away on Tuesday, July 19th while taking his afternoon nap (in his happy place, his home). We find peace knowing he woke up with the happiest of greetings from his best buddies (Max, Tyson, Wobbles, and Bear) and the warmest of hugs from his parents.

Oscar was born in Brooklyn, NY to Oskars and Meta Ozols. To say Oscar was a catch is an understatement. Oscar had the softest deep blue eyes, purest heart, the best laugh, a contagious smile, and his work ethic was unmatched. He was a sweet gentle soul who had deep empathy for others. Oscar was a man of his word, if he told you he was going to do something (usually sealed with a handshake) it was set in stone. His incomparable loyalty was not only shown through his marriage, but through his 35 year employment with his company Lane and McClain. Oscar was an easy going man whose happiness came from seeing his family and the ones he loved happy.

Oscar's love for his sweetheart Shirley Ozols was unwavering. Oscar and Shirley were approaching their 38th wedding anniversary and have been by each other's side for 40 years. In January 2020, Shirley was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer that had already spread to her lymph nodes when it was detected. Oscar was clearly heartbroken by this news, but never once left Shirley's side. Oscar supported her and made sure she was taken care of in her hardest of days and got her through her treatments and into remission. Oscar was not one to buy all the fancy material items or go to all the fancy places, but he was there doing the little things as a husband that truly matter in the day to day. Even after retiring, Oscar got up every morning and made Shirley breakfast, drank coffee with her, and started everyday making sure she was taken care of.

Oscar was the most supportive father, his children were his world, and he was their hero. Oscar worked long hours, but he always managed to still be actively present. He provided an amazing, love filled, laughter filled household for his three children Brian, Shannon, and Kevin. He was always at the important events to cheer his children on and tell them how proud of them he was. He would drop everything that he was doing to be at their side if they ever needed help or support. Oscar always knew what his children needed, from comforting in the hard times to celebrating in the good times. All of his children knew how much they were loved, Oscar made sure of this. All of his children are the people they are today because of him.

Oscar was adored by his grandchildren Liam, Nolan, and Rowan. We are saddened that his time with them was so short, but know that he is looking over them (and his future grandchildren) in everything that they do.

Oscar was a dog lover like no other. All family animals claimed Oscar as their person. You would always catch Oscar sneaking his buddies treats (or feeding them right off his plate) and they would consistently leave his house with a little extra fluff. If there was a dog at his house, they were more than likely on his lap, or swimming with him in the pool.

Oscar was preceded by his mother Meta Ozols (Quigg) and father Oskars Ozols. Oscar is survived by his wife Shirley Ozols, Children Brian Ozols (Allison Ozols),  Shannon Pritzos (Alec Pritzos), Kevin Ozols (Kati Ozols), and Grandchildren Liam, Nolan, Rowan, and future grandchildren to come.

Words can never do justice for the man, husband, father, and grandfather Oscar was. We are so very blessed to have known and loved him. Oscar will be greatly missed.

We will be having an Irish wake (celebration of life) one last party to celebrate the absolutely amazing life he lived and the impact he had.

Attire: Comfy casual- Oscar was not the biggest fan of dressing up.
