Raymond Gene Rowell of Wylie, Texas was born on September 26, 1928 to William Newt and Lillie Wilson Rowell and passed away March 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Rudy, four sisters and four brothers.  Raymond is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Margie; two sons, Ronnie and wife Barbara of Wylie and Russell of Wylie; two grandchildren, Wade and his wife Dyann of Princeton and Whitney of Josephine.

Raymond served in the United States Marine Corp from 1952 to 1954.  After leaving the military he owned and operated Rowell Barber Shop in downtown Wylie for thirty-three years.  He was an active member of the First Baptist Church Wylie, where he served as a deacon, in the Children's Church, the Silver Chords and the Happy Circle.  He loved to sing, play music, and enjoyed watching sports. He liked working with his hands, restoring old cars and tractors.  Most of all he loved being with his family and church family and sharing the Gospel of Christ.  He was an encourager and a loving man who will be greatly missed by many.

A visitation for Raymond will be held from April 5, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church Wylie. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. April 5, 2018 at the First Baptist Church Wylie with Dr. Kris Segrest and Dr. A. L. Draper officiating.  Raymond will be laid to rest at the Kreymer Cemetery in Wylie.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Raymond's name be made to the First Baptist Church Wylie Building Fund or to the Wylie Cemetery Association.
