Robert Allen "Bobby" Durst
January 31, 1946 – May 5, 2025

Robert Allen Durst, affectionately known as "Bobby," passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 79 while doing what he loved—fishing at Lake Tawakoni.

Born on January 31, 1946, in Crandall, Texas, Bobby was the son of Richard and Betty Durst. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after six months. He then continued his service with the Army National Guard of Texas, completing an additional two years and five months of duty.

Bobby worked at Desoto Paint and retired in 1984. For the past 25 years, he called Quinlan, Texas, his home. He was an active and dedicated member of the American Legion, where he held several leadership positions, including Commander, First Vice, Second Vice, and Sergeant-at-Arms.

A true outdoorsman, Bobby had a passion for fishing—especially for catfish. He was known for his legendary fish fries, which he hosted for family, friends, and even for charitable causes. Always ready with a helping hand and a warm welcome, Bobby had a heart for his community and with a deep-fryer always at the ready.

He also adored his beloved pets: his two dogs, Lucy and Fast Max, and his cat, Thomas.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Nancy Mead; his son, Gerald Raoul Durst; and his brothers, Roy Durst, Richard Durst, and J.R. Durst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Betty Durst; his sisters, Joan Hocket, Charlene Hale, and Maxine Lambert; and his brother, Fred Durst.

Bobby will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love of the outdoors, and his unwavering dedication to those he cared about. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
