Roland Kisco McDonald (Mac)

Born to Isaac and Nora Belle (Black) McDonald in Tishomingo, OK on December 15, 1920.  Roland passed away at his home April 17, 2017.

Roland was raised by divorced parents during the depression era. He used his keen hunting skills to help keep meat on the family table, he maintained his love for hunting wild game throughout his lifetime.

He met his future bride, Lillian Ritter, while they were both visiting family in Texas. Lillian's sister, Goldie had married the half-brother of Roland's stepfather Fred Johnson. Roland and Lil returned to their families in Oklahoma and were later married in El Reno, OK on May 27, 1939.

Roland had many skills and was a hard worker and did any job he could to support his family; from his first job as a delivery boy for a drug store in Oklahoma City making $9 a week, Alcoa Aluminum in California, Dallas Coffin Company, Ford Motor Company and lastly in 1957 North Texas Municipal Water District where he worked until his retirement in 1985.

He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and the East Fork Masonic Lodge #650 where he served in many capacities and was proud of all the young men he helped with their memory work over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepparents, his wife of 76 years, 3 sisters Lillian Guinn and husband Delmar, Josephine O'Dell and husband Charles and Geraldine James. His is survived by brother Thurman McDonald and wife Myrna of Tishomingo, OK, brother-in-law Herb James of Ardmore, OK, sister-in-law Evelyn Hamilton of Tishomingo, OK; his children, Larry McDonald and wife Ann, Richard McDonald and wife Gail, and Gwendolyn Kay Howell all of Wylie, TX and daughter Cathy Callen and husband Ron of Lawton, OK. 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.

A memorial service honoring both Lillian and Roland will be held at 2:00 p.m., April 29, First Baptist Church Chapel, Sachse, Texas. Interment will be in the Wylie City Cemetery.
