Roy, son of Grady and Elois Allen, was born on August 30, 1938 in Ferris, Texas.

Roy accepted Christ as a young boy and followed him the rest of his life. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in Dallas in 1956.   In 1960,  he met the love of his life, Carolyn.  They were married the next year on June 9, 1961 and  celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary earlier this month.

Roy and Carolyn had four children: Kim and her husband Mark Robertson, Wayna and  her husband Robert Glaess, Amy, and Roy Allen Jr. and his wife Elizabeth.  He was blessed with 10 wonderful grandchildren: Ethan and his wife Carly Glaess, Jake and his wife Bethany Robertson, Collin and his wife Makenna Glaess, Calvin and his wife Lauren Reavis, Tanner Glaess, Cory Reavis, Jared and his wife Maddy Robertson, John Allen, Logan Glaess, and Kyndal Glaess.

Roy worked hard all his life.  His first job as a young boy was riding his  bike delivering the Dallas Times Herald.  Roy then served as a deliveryman for Metzger's Milk in Dallas and finally worked for the U.S. Post Office as a letter carrier from 1966 until he retired in 2001.

Roy worked hard, but always took time to be silly and play with his kids.  He enjoyed riding and caring for his horses and listening to the Texas Rangers games on the radio while sitting in the back of his truck in the driveway.  He and Carolyn had fun as members of the Wylie Whirlers square dancing club.  He sang in the church choir at Wylie UMC and played on their softball team.  He went to many, many Wylie Pirate football games and enjoyed his big bowls of Blue Bell Ice Cream.

Despite having Parkinson's disease for over 20 years, he continued to live a life full of love.  He never complained, and was known to be kind, loving, gentle, and respectful and to have a great sense of humor.  He truly was a patient and caring man who loved his parents and family deeply. He made us feel safe, loved, and valued.  We all loved Daddy's laugh.

He taught us to love and honor the Lord and we know that he is with our Lord Jesus, now.
