Tommy MIchael Cox longtime resident of Wylie, Texas passed away Tuesday January 30, 2024 in Allen, Texas at the age of 81.

Tommy was born August 29, 1942 in Gorman, Texas to George Thomas and Juanita

Foster Cox. He was a loving husband, father, Papa, uncle, coach and friend.

After graduating from Stephenville High School, where he played football and basketball, Tommy continued his education at the University of North Texas.  After receiving his degree he taught and coached at Joshua, Ingleside, Pettus and East Central in San Antonio.

After his retirement from teaching and coaching Tommy continued to enjoy high school sports in person and on television.  He loved working with his grandson, Sloane in the summers and during school teaching him to throw the discus.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Cox, brother John D Cox, grandparents Jessie and Dora Cox and William and Essie Foster.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of Wylie, son Michael (Lynnetta) Cox of Garland and  grandson Sloane (Kiara) Cox of Clarksville, TN, brothers-in-law A W Wrinkle of Odessa, Bill (Susan) Wrinkle of Medford, NY and sister-in-law Jacki Wrinkle of Odessa.. Nieces Bethany (Chris) Smith, Jana Harlow, Juli (Dan) Smith, Kate (Chris) Ciparelli and nephews Chris (Aris) Cox, Tyson (Melissa) Wrinkle, Bill (Jen) Wrinkle, Brian (Laura) Wrinkle, Steven (Nicole) Wrinkle,  numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Texas Oncology Allen, Dr S Reddy and staff, Texas Health Emergency and Hospital for being so kind and taking such good care of him.

There will be no funeral arrangements at this time.  Memorials may be made in Tommy"s memory to your favorite charity, American Cancer Society or Wylie United Methodist Church Wylie, Texas.
