Travis Ray Lunsford went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 26th, 2018. His wife Paulette Lunsford was beside him as he completed his journey here on earth.
Travis was born on April 8th, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico to Ada Venita Winfrey Lunsford and Jessie Berl Lunsford. Travis graduated from Palo Duro high school in Amarillo. He married Charlotte Benton in San Diego, California on December 3rd, 1964 shortly after completing boot camp with the United States Navy. He and Charlotte were married for 45 years when Charlotte left to go to heaven. Travis served in the Navy for 20 years, working as a computer information expert, communications specialist, counselor, and instructor. Travis retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief. After the Navy, he went to work for E-Systems. Briefly, he was the Dean of DeVry University in Dallas, a computer tech for M & A, and finally a senior executive programmer for U.S. Bank. He provided such outstanding performance that the bank asked him to come out of retirement at age 67 to return to work, which he declined. Travis was tenacious in his research, diligent in attending to the details of every job he held, and took his obligations very seriously. Travis loved music and served the Lord with his voice and with his dependability and acts of service. At the Wylie Church of Christ, Travis was not only a devoted member, but also a favorite song leader. Travis was a loving brother, father, uncle, and husband. His dedication to those he loved went above and beyond. His dependability carried over from his work life into his relationships where he is remembered as loyal, genuine, and family-oriented. Travis was known for his integrity and honesty. He showed his love for family by being there for them. On June 23rd, 2012 he married Paulette Holbrooks Lunsford and over the past 6 years continued life's adventures with her by his side. Most recently Travis spent his time traveling, riding his Harley, visiting family, and spending time with his grandchildren. Travis was preceded in death by his parents Ada Venita Winfrey Lunsford and Jessie Berl Lunsford and his loving wife Charlotte. He is survived by his wife Paulette Holbrooks Lunsford, his son Thomas Ray Lunsford, his daughter Lisa Brenae Lunsford, and step-sons Ben Bob Boothe and Ethan Melvin Boothe (Kristen). He is also survived by brothers Joseph Berl Lunsford (Loretta), David Sidney (DS) Lunsford (Linda), and sisters Rowena Voncille Tate, and Ruby Winolia Hannum. Surviving grandchildren include Lynette Marie Botellow, Larissa Maye Lunsford, Thomas (TJ) Ray Lunsford Jr, Austin Ethan Boothe, Greyson McBride Boothe, Ryder Drew Boothe and great grandson Julius Ryan Gutierrez. A celebration of Travis's life will be held Wednesday, May 2nd from 11AM-12 PM at Wylie Church of Christ, 901 S. Ballard, Wylie, Texas. The internment will be at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemeter. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 1st from 6-8:00 P.M. at Allen Funeral Home, 508 Avenue, Wylie, Texas 75098.
