William Anthony Henry

(March 23, 1930 – August 2, 2023)

William (Bill) Anthony Henry, 93 of Wylie peacefully passed away August 2, 2023, surrounded by his family. Bill was born on March 23, 1930, in Seneca, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1952 - 1954 and held the rank of Sergeant; then, completed eight years in the Army Reserve before receiving his final discharge in 1960.  For his service, he received numerous medals and was awarded the 2021 Congressional Veteran Commendation.

After his service, Bill returned home and on September 8, 1954, he married the love of his life, Jane Marie Donovan Henry of Shawnee, Kansas.  Bill and Jane moved to Wylie where they raised their six children. Besides being a loving husband and father, Bill worked as a diagnostic engineer in the computer field. He also worked side by side with his spouse, Jane, in her local real estate business. Bill had a 75-year tenure in the Knights of Columbus and was instrumental in the formation of several Councils in various states, including his current Council 12300 at St. Anthony's Parish in Wylie. Bill assisted in establishing The American Legion Hale-Combest Post 315 in Wylie, TX.

Surviving Bill are his six children: Michael J. Henry (Fiancé, Lelia Stone) of Katy, Texas, Douglas W. Henry (Spouse, Cindy Carrel Henry) of Wylie, Texas, David G. Henry (Spouse, Margaret Dunkley Henry) of Parker, Texas, Michelle M. Nordmeyer of Dallas, Texas, Lisa M. Henry-Weaver (Spouse, Michael J. Weaver II)of Fairview, Texas, and Erin E. Henry (Spouse, Adele Bosquez Henry) of Houston, Texas. Bill is also survived by one sister, Joan Henry Klier of Clark, New Jersey.  Bill and Jane Henry left the legacy of 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Tony & Rose Henry, his loving spouse Jane Henry, 3 brothers: Gene Henry, Paul Henry and Lin Henry; two sisters: Leta Henry Tangeman and Dorothy Henry Olberding.

Visitation for Bill Henry will be held on Tuesday August 8, 2023, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 404 N. Ballard Ave., Wylie, Texas 75098 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Fr. Tony Densmore and Fr. Francisco Orozco on Wednesday August 9, 2023,at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 404 N. Ballard Ave., Wylie, Texas 75098. Interment will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, 2627-2361 St. Paul Rd., St. Paul, Texas 78098. Immediately following the burial, a reception will be held at Seis Lagos Club House, 224 Seis Lagos Trail, Wylie, TX  75098.
