Wilma Jewel Sims' Obituary
Wilma Jewel was born to Dorse and Myrtle Lee Henderson on February 17, 1936. She met Bobby Sims in April of 1953. She was his faithful companion for over 62 years until his passing on April 21, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Dorse and Myrtle Lee Henderson; her brother, Claude Dorse (Uncle Buddy); and her sisters, Lula Mae, Mildred, Betty,
Kathy
and Vickie.
She is survived by her sister, Jeanette, and husband Mac; her brother, Gary Doyle (Uncle Sonny); her only Son, Michael Ray; her two daughters, Bonnie Jean and husband Johnny; and Shirley Mae, our forever sweetheart. Also surviving, are her six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren: Bobby Ray, wife Angela and children Micah, Trevor, Stephan and Ashlyn; Stacy Lynn and children Lindsay and Emily; Joni Michelle, husband Marcus and sons Jamian, John, and Jaron; Lohri Marie, husband Anthony and daughter London; Michael Ray; and Miguel Lee (now serving in the United States Army). She will be remembered by a host of nieces and nephews that she loved and that loved her dearly.
Though circumstances hindered her from completing high school, she successfully cared for her grandmother as just a teenager when the need arose. She worked at Safeway from 1959 until she retired in the 1980's as a head meat wrapper; and likely the best one they had. She was an excellent seamstress, not only of clothing but also of upholstery. You would have to search far and wide to find a better cook. Her yard was kept in stellar condition, and her animals were cared for as children. All from the fingertips of this dedicated lady. She will be missed beyond words.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Allen Funeral Home in Wylie, Texas. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Wylie with Dr. A. L. Draper officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Kreymer Cemetery. Funeral services under the direction of Allen Funeral Home.
